Salary:  €52,000 - €55,000 (pro-rata for 4-day week)

Location:  Hybrid/Dublin 2. There is a lot of flexibility for working from home, but candidates must be flexible to travel to Dublin as required for meetings and site-based activities.

Contract type: Three-year contract with a view to a permanent position, depending on funding. 

BACKGROUND

The Sustainable Water Network (SWAN) is an umbrella network of twenty-five of Ireland’s leading environmental non-governmental organisations (eNGOs) working together to protect Ireland’s waters by participating in the implementation of the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD), Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD) and other water-related legislation. SWAN has both national and local members, representing a vast range of specialist and local knowledge and expertise in all areas of Ireland’s aquatic environment. 

THE ROLE

SWAN is in the process of expanding and is now looking for an experienced Chief Operations Officer to join its passionate team.

This is a newly created senior management position, operating at a strategic level directly with the CEO, overseeing the day-to-day operations and administration functions of SWAN, ensuring robust policies, internal systems, and practices.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, staff, and the Board, and play a lead role in the development and implementation of organisational work plans, policies, and practices following SWAN’s overall strategy.  

To take on this key role, we are seeking candidates with significant management experience including responsibility for HR and finance, and a thorough understanding of governance, regulatory compliance, and operational standards for not-for-profit organisations.  

Key responsibilities will include:

• Implementing and expanding operational processes and procedures.
• Driving and maximising efficiencies using technology in all areas of the organisation.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with all staff.
• Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements and best practice guidelines for charities.
• Facilities management
